probably the closest they could get to putting the cocoa butter vaseline that comes in a jar into a stick form. i’m sure they had to change the formula a little so that it works. after using for awhile, it’s definitely a great product. i like something a little thicker but it’s great for when your lips don’t need extreme TLC or just need a base under lipstick. and DEFINITELY more moisturizing than generic chapstick. i rarely use plain old chapstick anymore because i have dry lips and products like vaseline and aquaphor are better, so my standards for lip balm are pretty high. lol

If you are heartbroken about losing Chapstick Total Hydration, this is a reasonable substitute. Just like the Soothing Oasis variety, this Vaseline Lip Therapy Original has no taste! It goes on very smooth, and although not quite as wet feeling, it does feel very soft and hydrating, far more than a typical lip balm.

I purchased this after searching for a more hygienic alternative to the vaseline mini lip tubs to use when I am out. Since the pandemic I have been wary of using a lip balm that I need to dip my finger into to use but other non-vaseline products have fallen flat. I bought this hoping that it would be the same formula as the normal vaseline tubs, but unfortunately it is slightly different. It is still pretty well hydrating and leaves my lips feeling soft, but nothing compares to the OG vaseline tubs. I would still recommend it over most other chapsticks however.

Most people don’t know that after years of use some people may actually develop an allergic reaction to many lip balm products. I did. Vaseline Lip Therapy “Original version” resolved the issue.
