I bought this because I have frequent sinus problems and occasional bronchial issues. I liked the idea of something small, portable and natural. This thing has one small hole at the end and four tiny holes at the base, and you are supposed to suck in air through your nose or mouth. The theory is that the air you take into your lungs will have tiny salt particles which will help break up mucus.
One problem: the meager size of the holes make breathing through the device difficult, which is like a cruel joke when you are wheezing! I couldn’t do it for 2 minutes, much less 5-10!
Not sure if I will buy a different type of salt inhaler (a BIGGER one) or if I will try essential oils. I see Amazon carries what looks to be an identical product, but I would avoid that one as well.

Been waiting for some time to pass since nothing works instantly. But after some time I can finally post my review. I have both COPD and Interstitial Lung Disease and when I first purchased this, I was coming off a COPD exacerbation and it probably wasn’t the best timing for trying something new for my lungs. Wasn’t expecting a miracle, but was hoping for something that would eliminate the need for steroid inhalers and most definitely the oral steroids I was prescribed for when going through a COPD exacerbation.
I used this as an oral inhaler vs a nasal inhaler and went off my 2x daily prescription inhaler. Hard to judge the efficacy of something new while still using a prescription inhaler. It’s been over a month that I’ve been using this as an oral inhaler 3-4 times a day and although my lungs aren’t completely clear (not even sure that’s possible with two lung disease and a fair amount of lung damage), my lungs are considerably improved.
Bought this specific item because I didn’t want to spend the money to get a larger one before knowing if it would help. Well, I am buying the larger oral inhaler because this has proven to me that inhaling Himalayan salts does help your respiratory system, even with lung diseases. I’ll get a couple more in this size to keep in my purse and one in the bedroom. The one in the bedroom is to see if I use it as a nasal inhaler it will help with my night time clogged sinuses. I’m expecting it to help clear my sinuses since my lungs have greatly improved since using this inhaler.
I’ve found that the rumbling in my lungs is greatly reduced, I cough less and haven’t had any horrible coughing spasms since I began using this Himalayan salt inhaler. And I’m eager to find out if I continue using it as I have been, if those things will go away completely.
I will admit that since I don’t use salt in cooking or eat any salty food products, it does leave a bit of a salty taste on my tongue. But that is easily resolved with either swishing water around in my mouth or drinking water. And for those who use salt on a regular basis, you might not even notice the slight salty taste on your tongue.
So I highly recommend this to anyone who has any lung issues, even if only a temporary problem like with a cold. If it can help diseased lungs with two different lung diseases, it might be a miracle cure for people with respiratory infections like colds, bronchitis, etc.

This little nose or mouth (I recommend using it as one OR the other not for both) purse or pocket sized inhaler is a natural extension of the larger hand held ceramic inhaler. I choose to use this one nasally and it works as well or actually far better than other inhaled nasal decongestants. I was just as relieved from nasal congestion with this little prefilled powerhouse than sprays etc. The UP side is that this will not cause dependence. THAT to me is all important. I suffer with nasal congestion all year long because I am literally allergic to everything! Well almost everything, (all the usual suspects for sure!, During the winter when closed in with normal household dust, and the rest of the year with pollen and heaven only knows what else I can barely breathe through my nose. I am SO glad I can cut the cord on those other nasal sprays that can cause problems of their own. Thank you for caring enough to offer this simple dripless alternative to addictive nasal sprays!

Since purchasing this inhaler, I had a chance to visit an actual Salt Cave and it was an amazing and very relaxing experience. It opened up my sinuses and I could breathe so much easier. Now that I have something to compare it to this is a really good product. I experienced the same clear sinuses and easier breathing that I achieved in the salt cave. It’s also nice to have a product that travels with me everywhere. It’s also very affordable and is said to last a long time. It won’t replace going to an actual salt cave but it’s a good portable way to kind of take the salt cave with you. The downside to this inhaler is that it’s not refillable.

I have the big “Himalayan Salt Inhaler,” that you hold in your entire hand, and it looks like you’re taking a bong hit when using it. I used it, thought it worked enough, but then I saw this and bought it. I LIKE THIS BETTER. It is small, so I can use it more easily — which means I’ll use it more often. I can breathe through it when driving in my car — an awkward thing to do with the larger inhaler. But more importantly, I really think it works. I had bronchitis that I blew off and developed a cough that wouldn’t go away. Xrays later, my lungs were “inflamed”. This stuff seemed to calm my inflammation. “Halo therapy.” Now, I have it with me all the time so whenever I start to get a cough, I quickly suck on this to subdue. Breathe deep through the salt, exhale through the nose, seven times. It works.
