I have a horse that I supplement with MSM and here are the comparisons to my current MSM product:
This is very easy to feed. The MSM is in an alfalfa pellet base. Added to grain they eat it.
My current product is 100% pure MSM with no filler and it tends to fall to the bottom of the bucket so I add a little oil (if the horse needs fat) or water, apple sauce, etc to make it stick to grain.
My current product gives 14K MSM in a 1/2 TSP and it lasts 72 days at that rate.
This product provides 10K MSM and lasts 56 days
My current product costs less than half the price of this product.
In my opinion MSM is MSM. This product is more convenient, and easier to feed since it has added fillers that horses like to eat (alfalfa). I like Smartpac single ingredient supplements so I can give each animal what they need. If you are boarding Smartpac is wonderful but in this case I am happier to save some money and buy MSM with no fillers.

This MSM supplement is part of SmartPak’s “Smart and Simple” line, which allows targeted and specific supplementation for your horse of just the one or more individual supplements that you want. This MSM product comes in a pelleted form, in a 2.4 lb tub that will provide 56 servings of 10,000 mg each of MSM at the recommended 1 scoop per day. The pellet is made of concentrated alfalfa meal with few other fillers or by-products. I have trusted SmartPak’s quality and commitment to horse health for decades, and appreciate this new line of targeted supplements to help balance out my horse’s diet.

Really surprised. Our horse has been on MSM powder for a few years now. Mixing the powder with the feed was hit and miss as our horse would sometimes pick around it and always not get the full supplement. She likes these pellets much more and all the MSM pellets are ingested with her nightly feeding. As far as MSM goes, the effects and benefits with these pellets seem the same as the powder, so we’re just happy it is easier on us (and the horse too). Give them a try if you give MSM to your horse.

We’ve recently incorporated more SmartPak products into the care routine for our miniature mules, both of whom are rescues with significant health challenges. Introducing new supplements is always a concern due to their picky nature, but they’ve taken to the SmartPak Smart & Simple MSM Pellets without issue. One of our mules struggles with a contracted tendon, and the other faces stifle issues, but this supplement appears to be making a positive difference in managing these conditions. My mare is older (almost 30) and is getting a little stiff. I wanted a little something extra to help her going into winter so was happy to have the opportunity to try this.
I’ve used SmartPak products for years and have found them to all be excellent quality. These MSM pellets are no exception. It’s a relatively small serving size so the jar will last a while. She eats them readily.
I don’t love the jar that has to be unscrewed each time, so I transferred the contents to a different container with a flip-top lid. At least they sent a scoop with a handle that’s long enough to reach the bottom.

As far as I know, MSM is tasteless, so horses shouldn’t reject it on the basis of flavor. But it usually comes in powder form, and some horses don’t like powders, or don’t like having their feed soaked so that powders will stick and not just settle at the bottom of the feed tub.
That’s where these pellets come in. Is this the most cost-efficient way to feed MSM? No. But it will get it into those picky eaters, and there won’t be any waste.
