Chagrin Valley shampoo bars are amazing. Their website has good information and a “which one to choose” tool that will help you pick the right one, or you can try small samples. We really love the neem and tea tree shampoo, and are very happy to NOT be using plastic bottles, so it’s a win-win for the environment, too. This is a great company that carefully sources organic ingredients and looks at their impact in the world. For conditioner, I use a tiny bit of their facial oil actually — and once in awhile, I do an apple cider vinegar and water rinse (which I would do with any shampoo), since we have hard water.

Bought this for mite bites. Didn’t work great for the itching. The bars also melted in hot water very quickly and I got less than a week of use out of a bar which was really disappointing. Definitely not worth it in my opinion for $14/ bar. The reason I gave these bars 3 stars was that I did really like it as a shampoo. Made my hair feel nice and clean despite the waxy feeling in the beginning. Would consider buying again if the price was much lower.

I first found this Neem &tea tree shampoo soap bar at a hair salon in Texas while visiting family. I decided to try it because I had itchy scalp and some small scabby bumps that head & shoulders shampoo didn’t seem to prevent. I tried this shampoo bar and almost immediately my scalp stopped being itchy and the scabby bumps went away, plus my skin felt tingly and better too. Plus added bonus, my acne cleared up. So I became a convert.
When I returned to NJ I looked for it on Amazon but didn’t find the same one from Chagrin Valley. I found other soap bars from Chagrin Valley but not this one.
Fast forward a couple months and I looked on Amazon again for it and I found this 2-pack of the same Neem & tea tree shampoo bar. It is pricey but it works well on itchy scalp and skin. Plus the ingredients used appear to organic.
The shampoo bar itself does have a bit of a mediciney odor or odd odor is best way I can describe it, but doesn’t last long after using it and it’s not off putting. Also, the soap lathers quite a bit. With daily use on hair and body the shampoo bar lasts me about 2.5 weeks.
I had never used a shampoo bar soap before. So when I first used this on my hair I found that my hair felt weird, kinda waxy or like it was coated in something. However, after the 3rd time washing my hair with it my hair felt super soft, smooth and very clean.
The box does include a card with information about transitioning to a shampoo bar as there is a transition period. I didn’t use either of the recommended rinses, I just continued to wash with the shampoo bar and by the 3rd wash my hair had transitioned.
I highly recommend this shampoo bar if you have problem skin or scalp.
I will continue to buy this shampoo bar through Amazon.

I’ve used these for years, buying directly from the Chagrin website previously- but now that it’s available on Amazon prime I get them here!! Here’s why you should switch to shampoo bars!!
1. No plastic bottle- better for the environment!
2. No SLS, artificial fragrances, dyes or other toxic ingredients. Has a gentle pleasant scent- and all natural ingredients!
3. Leaves your hair soft and silky!!
Your hair will get a build up over time so it’s recommended to dilute apple cider vinegar and use it as a rinse a few times a week. That’s my top tip! Enjoy your healthy hair!

I use this soap both in the shower on my skin and to wash my hair. It has no odor and produces lots of suds. to wash with. I like it best on my skin as it is mild and cleanses well. It is not as effective as a shampoo as it leaves what seems to be a film unless I rinse it for a long time. My hair is then, hard to detangle and comb. I recommend it as a shower and bathing soap but not as a shampoo or hair cleaner.
