I’m not a diabetic, but I’m a biologist and have been wanting to track my blood sugar for years, but none of my doctors would prescribe a device and the ones on the market were a bit expensive. When I got to review the FIABiomed Precisa I jumped on it. It is a nice set and comes with the test strips and lancets for 50 tests. This is the old-fashioned test-when-you need prick your finger device; it warns not to draw blood from anywhere but the fingertip. The lancets are packaged in separate protective plastic sleeves and fit into the lancing device easily; you can adjust the depth of the jab with a dial. It is almost painless but you notice the fact that you’ve been lanced for a while. The instructions are very clear; there is a comprehensive manual, a quick start, and instructions on the box. I would have given it 5 stars except that the web descriptions mentions a “a blood sugar control solution” which was not in the kit, though the instructions say it is “optional”. Likewise, there was no check strip, though the check strip is not mentioned in the product description but the instructions say it is included. Also, the product description lists “Advanced Features: The blood glucose monitor has advanced features such as a memory function that allows you to track your blood glucose levels over time, a data logger that allows you to download and analyze your data, and a built-in alarm that reminds you to test your blood glucose.” I can’t find any documentation of either in the instructions, though there is an undescribed jack on the unit that might accept a headphone-like plug and do some sort of serial transfer. As best I can tell “downloading” means scrolling through the results on the monitor and typing them into a spreadsheet. A final thought for the manufacturer: The carrying case is nice (a bit too big for a pocket, but nice). The test strips are well-protected in a sealed plastic bottle, but the lancets are in 2 simple plastic bags; once opened they spill out all over. On the other hand the battery comes in a reusable bag. I’d reverse this and pack the lancets in a ziploc type bag.

This is fairly simple and easy to use like all other glucose monitor kits. The lancets are great and monitoring device is pretty intuitive and easy to use. I have been using it for a while and the results seems to be accurate. I mainly have this as my travel glucose monitoring kit because of its compact design. Overall, I am happy with it.

I’ve been using this for a while and it seems fairly accurate.
There’s a lot going on with the screen. You really need to read the instructions to get it right.
The real issue I have is actually getting the blood on the strip. One of my favorite other models has the blood enter at the top of the strip, so it is very easy to get the blood on it.
This one, however, has the blood coming-in at the side. It took a while for me to figure out the best way to contort my finger and where to best place to get the blood from.
Other than that, it works as expected.
