I’ve been taking astaxathin for a couple of years now, since I am closing in on 60 and my skin, eyes and brain need all the help they can get. I have tried several brands during the last couple of years, and so far am very happy with this NOW brand astaxanthin. I like that each capsule has 12 mg, which is a fairly high dosage but is not going overboard. I also like that the pills are small and easy to swallow; they sort of remind me of those little red krill oil capsules, if you are famliar with those. I really like that this product comes from a long-trusted USA brand and is also made in the USA. That gives me peace of mind. I am not vegetarian but those of you who are will like that these pills are vegetarian. They also do not contain soy, wheat, gluten, milk, eggs, shellfish and a few other things that are common allergens. This bottle contains 60 pills, so will last two months.
Overall I am very happy with the quality and dosage of this astaxanthin and the fact that these capsules are made in the USA by a USA company with a great reputation.

I give 5 stars to NOW Foods because I always had the right experience/benefits from their supplements.
But Astaxanthin made absolutely nothing to me.
We are all different, and our metabolism processes nutrients in similar but different ways.
That’s why I’m giving it 3 stars.

Upon researching Astaxanthin,.. you will find aside from being difficult to pronounce, it has been shown to help a variety of medical conditions.
Not only is Astaxanthin one of the world’s most powerful naturally occuring anti-oxidants,.. it also carries with it noted anti-fatigue and anti-inflammatory properties.
It’s a one pill,.. once a day, 1-2 punch that fights free radicals, muscle fatigue and inflammatory conditions.
As an athlete, you’ll appreciate it’s effectiveness at combating muscle soreness and fatigue.
As an aging person, you’ll love the fact that it helps to fight free radicals and inflammation in the joints.
Astaxathin has been shown to help reduce symptoms of those suffering from Alzheimer’s, arthritis, celiac disease and diabetes,.. just to name a few.
Astaxathin has also been shown to boost the immune system. What’s not to love?!?
Now, if you’re like me,.. when you hear all this great stuff all packed into one supplement,.. you go even further down the rabbit hole, thinking there must surely be something wrong here.
We looked and looked and simply couldn’t find a down side to astaxanthin. It’s that good!
What we did find was several medical studies testing varying doses of 4mg, 6, 8, 10 and 12.
Like most things in life, these medical studies found that more is better, with the most beneficial effects being found at 12mg.
In addition to that, the trademarked version of Astaxanthin, “AstaReal” kept coming up as a superior version of this supplement. Which is great for us,.. because this supplement has BOTH! 😃

The once daily pill comes in a gelcap. I will say, that while it is tiny,.. it takes a fat little pill to contain all that goodness.
If you tend to have trouble swallowing pills, you may want to chase it with a nice slice of toast.
If you’re the sort of healthy person who enjoys some avocado on your toast,.. your in luck! Because medical research shows taking astaxanthin with a source of dietary fat, helps it’s absorbtion in the human body.
It’s a win/win with a healthy breakfast to boot!

Astaxanthin is an antioxidant which helps combat free radicals in the body. It has been the subject of numerous studies researching its potential as an anti-inflammatory and other possible benefits.
Some studies indicate that it may have possible protective qualities for eye, heart, and skin health. Although more research is needed, taking Astaxanthin is generally considered to be safe for most people so I’ve been taking this supplement in hopes of seeing some of the benefits.
I’ve used NOW supplements for years and they’ve always been of good quality, plus they’re made in USA. The 12mg veggie soft gels are easy to take and I prefer them to pills. I have not experienced any unwanted effects since adding Astaxanthin to my vitamin routine, so my plans are to keep taking it!
