I am 60 years old. I had been on anti-depressants since 1989 when I was faced with the loss of my job, husband, car and home in a divorce. I began supplementing with anti-anxity drugs last year, 2012, when I had a complete nervous breakdown due to new issues that I was facing. In April of this year, it had been almost a calendar year since this breakdown and I was still not feeling any better. Before Sam-e, on every given day since April 2012, I simply could not concieve of spending the rest of my life feeling like I did. I slept until noon just to avoid getting up. My husband did not know what to do to help me. I cried disparingly almost all of the time and would not leave the house. Finally, in April 2013, I decided to go visit my Mom and we happened into a thrift store where I picked up a book written by a man praising Sam-e. I realized then that I had everything to loose and everything to gain. So I purchased Sam-e 400 mg and bless the day I did. I can tell you that within days (2-3) I was feeling better. It has now been 6 weeks since I discontinued any Rx drugs for depression and/or anxiety; taking only the Sam-e. I feel that this is truely remarkable since the Rx drugs were not making me feel better and I was only getting worse before taking Sam-e. I can tell you I now am a changed person; I am now the person I was before this world and politics took its toll on me. I can do this now and have renewed optimism, energy and a sense of well-being that I did not have before. To date, I have experienced no side effects and will continue taking Sam-e 400mg once a day. I will update you if there is a change of any kind.

I rarely write reviews but when something exceeds my expectations, I want to share my experiences in hopes it helps others.
I am a 28 year old male who has been dealing with mostly anxiety with some mild depression and obsessive thoughts for the past 6 years. I am a very lucky and fortunate person, I was blindsided by the illness, no logical explanation. It took me a year to even understand what i was experience was anxiety/depression, I was very misinformed on the matter. My doctor told me it was genetic and wasnt the cause of my environment (i thought this is what caused anxiety and depression).
Long story short, I truly believe there is a way anxiety/depression can be beat. I feel, In combination with being more mentally tough (this alone has help dramatically) and finding the right supplement to correct the chemical imbalance, i can eliminate the issue. This has lead me to try every supplement that is supposed to help… you name it, ive tried it and unfortunately, nothing has provided even a small benefit.
SAM-e was the last supplement to try… Ive been taking it for about 3 weeks and I am amazed at how effective it has been. within the first 30 minutes of me taking it, I felt a feint surge of ambition and energy. It was short lived but it was the first time I experienced ANYTHING at all from a supplement, so i was pleased. As time has progressed, I do feel better overall but especially better the few hours after I take it. best way to describe it is i feel less fatigued and more ready to conquer tasks.
This hasnt been a miracle drug or anything, there is still much to be desired in alleviating my symptoms but the potential is there. I am currently taking 400mg once daily. I need give it more time at this dose before possibly dosing higher and hopefully finding the solution.
Do not hesitate in trying SAM-e, it is pricey but worth it. As far as this brand goes, its the only one ive tried, so i cant speak to in compared to other companies. that being said, it has worked for me, so i will endorse it.
**on a side note, if there is anyone who is truly struggling and in desperate needs, i took lexapro for 6 months and it was absurdly effective… my mind stopped racing completely and i forgot i even had anxiety/depression. I made the choice to try other means before obligating my well being to a pill but if someone is at a dire point, consider it.

I purchased this product for my teenaged son, who has suffered from depression on and off over the last few years. I know people who take medication such as Prozac for depression and I don’t like the way it effects them. I certainly didn’t want that for my son, yet it was getting very difficult to watch him suffer. I knew something needed to change. I had tried St. John’s Wort but that did nothing for him.
After extensive research, I decided to try Sam-e as a last ditch effort before making an appointment to try Rx meds. He started with one 400 mg pill in the morning, but after 10 days, there was no change. We then tried two 400 mg pills in the morning as well as a B Complex vitamin. That was the difference maker. Within the first few days, he started to feel better. It was like a dark cloud lifting. A week after the new dose, he was a different kid – lighter mood, happier disposition, and more positive than negative. It’s been close to a month now and the results are wonderful. I can’t believe the difference. I haven’t heard him make a negative comment in weeks. He says he feels happier. He is enjoying life and doesn’t get so overwhelmed with the little things. High school is tough on any teenager, but he seems to be handling things much better now.
We have not encountered any stomach issues at all. He takes his pills first thing in the morning and then has breakfast about 30-40 minutes later.
I’m so grateful for this product. It has been a lifesaver. I just hope the effects last. My advice to anyone who is looking for an alternative to prescription medication to try this. Don’t give up if the first dose doesn’t work. You can always increase it. My son’s dose of 800 mg is only half of what is recommended, so there is plenty of room to increase if it would ever become necessary. The B Complex vitamin is a great complement to Sam-e, as B vitamins are apparently needed for the Sam-e to absorb better.
