My husband and I have noticed our hemoglobin A1C going up over the last few years and we’re now in the pre-diabetes range. I wanted to keep a closer eye on it so we decided to try this to monitor our glucose levels. I admit that being a first time user I had to go through 4 strips before I had the right amount of blood on the strip to activate the meter. It was more figuring out the pressure of the lancet and the right depth to use to get adequate blood. Now that I know I have to use the middle of the dial and put a little pressure on the lancet it’s very easy to get a drop of blood. Once the blood is on the strip the glucose meter counts down from 5 to 1 and you have your reading. Easy peasy. The worst thing is that you need a lot more strips than what come with the machine so that could be pricey depending on how often you check your blood sugar.

I was unable to locate the name of the “app” in the user guide. I searched using several different options without success. There is no QR code or app name listed. I was only able to figure out the app name, GlucoAid, from Amazon comments. I did finally get everything set-up, but was unable to get data upload. Ended up placing the reading in manually. The meter did work well.

It’s a smaller unit than I was expecting. Batteries come separate so you’ll know how to replace them since you’ll be installing them (also makes sure they are less likely to be dead on first use). Screen is very readable. The lancet tool is a little finicky to use but less painful than some others I’ve tried. Test strip ejector is a handy little extra feature. Accuracy is inconsistent: sometimes it reads too high, sometimes too low (as cross-checked against my OneTouch Ultra2). Nothing crazy off in comparison. One huge boon is the cost of strips. The strips for this are literally 1/3 of my usual, so that’s a huge win since I keep my glucose in good control and mostly just need to watch trends. So overall I’ll give this an easy recommendation. Quality at a bargain price.
The Moose –
I ordered this because I’m pre-diabetic and need to keep an eye on my glucose levels periodically. Upon arrival, you see that it is barebones as a unit. It will provide results, but there are only 10 strips provided. This is fine for someone like me who would use it maybe once a month. For someone who is constantly monitoring their levels, of course you would have to order many more just to get to the starting point. Another negative is there is no calibrating fluid included.
All that being said, it seems very easy to use and get results. For me, that is all I need.

Seems to work fine until read the actual accuracy rates in the manual. It’s advertised as 98% accurate, but you have take into account the allowance or variance for that to be considered that accurate, and it’s quite a wide margin. I’ve returned mine, nowhere in the manual does it tell you what the name of the app is? I’ll go elsewhere for my blood glucose monitoring needs.

I got this glucose meter so I can measure my levels every once in a while as I don’t want to only do this once a year at my annual check-up.
It’s easy to use and readings are fast.
The only problem I had is that there was no calibration fluid included. Based on the manual it sounded like that should have been there.
