I am mostly happy with this glucose testing kit. I compared the results to my keto mojo meter, and they are only a few points difference, so I feel like this is an accurate meter in glucose and ketone measurements.
I did not find the directions difficult, and I was able to install this on my phone and begin using it within a few minutes.
The coding thing was not a big deal but is cumbersome when you only have 5 strips to work with.
I did not like the strips individually wrapped in foil because they are hard to take out, but I know this is a common way to package these types of strips.
The cholesterol strip took a lot more sample then the other two strips and I had to re-stick my finger in order to get enough to sample.
Overall, it could be a helpful tool, but I don’t know why there are no more strips available.

The seller reached out to me via Amazon to answer the questions I have about this product. The seller was extremely helpful and prompt in answering my questions. I wanted to share what I learned with you as you probably have the same questions in mind:
    1. This device is ANDROID ONLY device. The instructions mentions the Apple devices and has a QR code to download the Apple device because the same instructions sheet is being used with a similar product for the Apple devices. This device however does not support Apple devices.
    2. The Glucose test does NOT require a code strip like the other two tests! The warning about using a strip is confusing as it leads you to think otherwise.
    3. Additional test strips are not yet available, but the seller is working on making these available soon.
    4. The Ketone test is for people on a Keto diet.
    5. You don’t really need to insert the code strip every time (despite the message on the app). You only need to use it when you get new batch of test strips.

    ORIGINAL REVEIW
I love the idea of being able to measure my cholesterol and Glucose at my convenience at home, so I was excited about this device. Unfortunately though, there are some major issues that the manufacturer needs to improve:

    1) Even though the manual references and has a link to download an Apple iOS app to work with this device, the device does NOT work with Apple devices. First of all, the device requires a USB-C connection, which was only supported by Apple fairly recently. Still I was able to get a 10th generation Apple iPad (latest model) with a USB-C port. However, the device did not work at all and wasn’t even detected. I then got a Galaxy Android phone, and the device worked with that.

    2) Every time you plug the device into the phone, it asks the user to insert the “code chip first”. Not sure why this is necessary every time. The device should “remember” whatever it needs off that chip for the next time.

    3) You need to have a large enough drop of blood for the test, or you will trash the test trip. Half the times the drop was not large enough which generated an error message. I tried to squeeze more blood on the strip and tab to retest, but that caused the app to lock up in an infinite loop. I removed the device restarted the app and tried again but I got a “strip was already used error”. So the strip had to be trashed.

    4) The kit I received had the needed code chips for Cholesterol test and Ketone. Unfortunately it did NOT have a code chip for Glucose. I wasn’t sure whether this chip is not needed for Glucose test or it was missing from the package!

    5) The Cholesterol test seemed to be accurate from what I know from older lab tests. However, you only get one overall Cholesterol reading without the details about your LDL, HDL, and triglycerides readings.

    6) I didn’t know about the purpose of the included Keytone test but I was glad to see the device telling me I have normal levels of it.

    7) I had to do the Glucose test without using a code chip since it was included (test strips were included however). The reading from that test was shown 94, which I think is just a default reading and not accurate. This is probably due to not having the cod chip.

    8) There were no instructions on ordering more test strips and code chips. I will need refills on these soon since only 5 of each test type are included.

The app just says connecting and then it fails to connect

It gives you a good mesuring stick in beatween the doctor visit. It gives you a good idea if you are on the track. I like it. It may not be as accurate as the lab but it is very close to what I should know

I was really looking forward to this product, one of the first inexpensive home testers for cholesterol. It also tests ketones (for measuring when you are in ketosis) and glucose. It looked simple to use, with a reasonable price by utilizing a phone for the display. The device for Android and Apple is different.

    So much for the promise.

The instructions are hard to understand. Not in a ‘poorly written from another language’ way, but in their unnecessary complexity. The actual device turns out to be pretty easy to use, but you wouldn’t know it from the instructions, which look like they were written by an engineer who never watched a new user try the device. There are ‘quick start’ directions that use all pictures (like those ‘furniture in a box’ guides) but those instructions are only translatable after you already know how to use it. What makes the instructions complicated is that it has steps out of order (step 1 do this, step 2, do something before step 1) and tries to cover too many bases. It should be really simplified to do step 1, step 2 etc. for each separate test instead of cramming them all together.

In actuality, it’s not hard to do. Install the software, plug the device into the USB C charging port, and then insert the included test code chip, wait for the code to register, insert the test strip, prick blood and put it on strip, and read result.

Let’s take each of those in turn.

Load software. It uses an app (available on the play store) called “Procheck”. Unfortunately, there are multiple apps with the same name, and the one you want isn’t by the company that makes the device (MbH) or the name of the device (Procheck Witty). Instead it is by “TaiDoc” which you’d never know. The app says it requires Android 9 and above, but it did not work on two of our Samsung phones (Android 11 and 12) and a tablet (Android 11). It did work on a Lenovo Android 12 tablet. Once you install the software, it asks for a bunch of permissions, a lot of which make no sense: Microphone, precise location, contacts, photos and media. That kind of permission access always makes me nervous. Why does it need any of these? It doesn’t explain. It won’t even accept general location, and worse, doesn’t give an error, just kicks you off the app. Only when you grant all permissions will it work.

Code strips. This part works, you just have to remember to insert the ‘reference chip’ for either the glucose test or the cholesterol test (you have to go through this sequence each time, i.e. you can’t take one blood source and get multiple test results). This IS explained in the directions, but it gets lost in the detail. So if you are doing cholesterol, you plug in the cholesterol ‘reference chip’ first. Once it registers, you take out the chip and replace it with a glucose blood test collection strip. (If you want to do a glucose test, you repeat the process after you FINISH the glucose test).

Blood draw. The kit includes lancets and the lancing device. The device also accepts standard (other brand) lancets, which is nice. However, the lancing device is not strong enough/deep enough for thicker skin; it didn’t even make a dent on my finger at the highest setting. Fortunately I had a separate glucose kit with a lancer and I used that. TIP: get your blood draw started BEFORE sticking the test strip in the device, because if it takes you too long to get enough blood (you need about one really large drop or two smaller ones) the meter will time out and you can’t use that test strip again. This is not explained in the instructions.

Test strip/reading. The test strips work well. You put your drop of blood on the END of the strip (you don’t smear it on top) and the strip sort of sucks up the sample. It works as good as any glucose strips I’ve seen. This is no warning about this in the instructions.

Reading: The screen shows the result. Unfortunately, the cholesterol reading only shows LO/HI, without a number. The instructions imply it gives an actual number (mg/dL) and the photo in the product description shows a number, but mine only said “Lo.” You can change the settings to align “Lo” with a given reading, but even when I changed that setting to “10” it still said I was low, which doesn’t make sense. The ketone reading is in mmol/L (and gave an actual number, not the Lo/Hi). The glucose reading also just gave Lo/Hi. So not only do you not get a cholesterol breakdown (HDL, LDL, trigycerides) you also don’t get an actual numerical reading, which makes it pretty useless.

Other issues: now and again a ‘Communication error’ would popup, with a button to click “Ok.” No matter what I did, it got caught on this screen in a loop. I had to exit the app, clear the storage and cache, and force stop for it to work again.

Refills: Since these test strips are proprietary, you’d need refills, but there is no place I could find to order them. So if you buy this kit, it is for 5 of each test at most.

Overall, this product has a lot of potential, but if falls far short in execution. They need to:
    1. Fix the software so it doesn’t need all those permissions.
    2. Consider just using Bluetooth for connection, even if the device has to be plugged in to the USB C for power.
    3. Make the cholesterol test show a numerical value.
    4. Dramatically simplify the instructions.
    5. Provide information on where to get test strip refills.
