There is something about going back to old school remedies….THEY WORK!!!! I can’t say enough great things about this product. I tried Father John’s based on a recommendation from a friend. Due to this crazy cold/flu season, I had a terrible cough for months that I was not able to shake, enough though I was under doctor’s care. I was tired of being sick and I decided to try this since I had tried and been prescribed almost everything else. I took Father John’s along with homemade hot lemon tea (boiled water and fresh lemons) with fresh ginger and garlic for 3-5 days and let’s just say, my terrible cough is gone and I feel 100% better. My mom said that she use to give this to us as kids and it definitely still works.
I will forewarn you, the syrup is thick (think molasses), brown and taste like black licorice, but the taste is bearable. I was desperate to get rid of my cough so I was willing to deal with the taste. I just drank a little water and gargled with mouthwash right after it.
I love the simple ingredients (cough suppressant, cod liver oil, sugar, licorice). I love that it is non-drowsy and that cod liver oil has some great benefits for the body.
I will definitely keep this in my medicine cabinet.

Have a chaser IMMEDIATELY at the ready. This is thick and disgusting! But my lord if this doesn’t work! Knocked out serious cold in 2 people in my household in 2 days with noticeable improvement after 1st day. Gave the sickness eviction notice expeditiously.

This cough syrup is one if the best old school cough syrups. It really quiets a nagging, lagging, cough. Welcome back Father Johns Cough Syrup.

No doubt, this stuff tastes VILE! But it WILL knock out your cough, and it’s good for you too! I guess I should say, it starts off with a strong black licorice flavor (I’m not a real fan of black licorice) and ends with a strong hint of the fishy cod-liver oil base. Definitely needs a chaser. BUT, all that said if you can just hold your nose and take it, you’ll feel better. This product was recommended to me by a 90+ year old patient when I had a summer cold. “If you had taken my cough syrup you wouldn’t be coughing right now. I took it this morning and I haven’t coughed since”. well, by this time I’d been coughing for days and I was on just about everything over the counter I could get my hands on. 2 doses of this and my cough was under control. So, suck it up and try it!

I proud to say thank Amazon. This is a childhood favorite and it will compress’s all hard coughs. Yes, it has a smooth, thick and hard core chocolate taste but IT Works. FYI- hold your nose then swallow and drink orange to help with the taste. 😎😝
