I have a senior citizen who’s about to fly on an international trip and she needs to have her diabetes injections with her. I found this highly-rated tempk solution to be the perfect companion for her. I was quite worried about this trip. The injections have to stay cold and the cold-pack material is not only ingeniously-designed but is bound to keep the injections cold throughout her trip. I’m confident. The canister is solid and impossible to get damaged even in baggage. Definitely a good buy that I would recommend to all travellers with such requirements.

Impressive construction and design. There is no labeling other than the brand on top so no one knows its medical supplies inside. The listing states – “the exterior is designed without any obvious logos or markings to ensure user privacy”. That does not include the company logo – Tempk – it is there, as pictured in the listing photos. The exterior is smooth and it could be decorated with water bottle stickers to make it more fun and personalized.
The white color in the listing photos looked cream based on my monitor settings. As shown in my review photos, the white model is white or what I would describe as bright white. The size ( large ) that I received matches the seller’s measurements – it is thinner than a typical 20 oz stainless steel drink tumbler, for reference and to compare.
These freezer sticks are thin and fill the open space. If I used the whole set of cooling rods that were included with our set, at the same time, there would not be a space for the injectable. I plan to rotate the cooling rods in a freezer or possibly an ice chest when needed for longer trips. My husband only takes 1 injection per week so it won’t be needed daily. Having this for travel is more convenient than other methods we have tried, to compare, since his schedule has to be consistent.
The number of freezer sticks that fit well will depend on the size, type or number of injectable(s) being stored. The interior stayed cool during our initial tests with a used injectable. The length of time ours stayed in the correct temperature range was very close to the listing chart. As the sellers chart shows, the temperature of the room directly affects the longevity of the cooling – so leaving this in a hot car is not advised. Storing the container in an ice chest did slightly extend the time it stayed cool.

If you have medication, especially insulin, this is the perfect thing to keep it at a safe temperature. The rods freeze rather quickly and stay cold for an insanely long time. It’s also very nice that the bottle can hold more than two pens. Say you’re running low and you need to take one extra with you. It’s no problem as you simply remove one of the rods and go on about your day. I highly recommend getting a scrub brush for a baby bottle or tall cup should you need to clean it. I didn’t try to put it in the dishwasher. Also, in a pinch, it doubles as a decent thermos.
I really wish they would have a product more like this when I first learned I was diabetic. My life would’ve been much simpler.

This is essentially a drink thermos with some ice pack sticks. That being said it does function well. The double walled nature of the stainless steel bottle keeps the contents cold for a long time. The sticks are a good shape for ice packs of this application and I would have a hard time finding similar ones elsewhere. Just be aware that this feels more like a few useful items together rather than a dedicated device specifically for meds.

It comes with a variety of cooling sticks, and you can add as many as you need to accommodate your prescription. The advice also specifies how many can be used in refrigerated or frozen conditions to keep temperatures low where necessary. In my scenario, I needed refrigeration temperatures that did not drop below freezing. I stored the case and cooling sticks in the refrigerator overnight. One particularly appealing component of the design is that the cooling sticks really freeze at refrigerator temperatures.

I put the case and the cooling sticks in the refrigerator over night. One very nice aspect of the design is that the cooling sticks actually freeze at refrigerator temperatures. The morning before I left for my flight, I put in my medication and several cooler sticks. Then I stuck it in my carry-on bag. The sticks freezing at refrigerator temps is great for airport security, where liquids are scrutinized. When I put my bag through the x-ray, no questions were asked. My flight was about 9 hours. Add on about three hours before the flight and another three hours after for travel. My medication was in there for over 15 hours. By the time I got where I was staying, my medication was a bit cooler than room temperature. After a 15 hour journey, I didn’t expect it to be very cold. I was happy it was still cool at all. Overall, this definitely served it’s purpose. I was quite pleased that it kept my medication viable for that long of a travel day. It was easy to put in my bag (it’s about the size of a 20 oz stainless steel bottle), and it gave me no issues with airport security. I recommend this to anyone who has to travel with medications that require cooling.
