This cream works so well with my skin that I use it every day in place of makeup, as “base.” I saw that another reviewer thought it was “weirdly tinted,” but it’s exactly the color of my skin, and no one has ever told me my skin was any weird color! The color would be considered “medium” if you were buying “base” makeup from another company, so people with extremely fair skin, or darker skin might find it a mismatch, but it’s perfect for me, with my average-colored, caucasian skin. I confess that I usually dot a dab of macadamia oil on my skin before adding the zinc cream, just to get it to spread more easily, all over my face. But this stuff is wonderful, and it’s now the only base “make-up” I use. Having very sensitive, highly allergic skin, I used to react all the time to commercial make-up: even high-end brands would leave my eyes red and watering, and would often leave a rash. I find that this zinc cream does double-duty — it prevents the rashes caused by other commercial products, and it clears up redness and rashes caused by other things. For example, when I eat any dairy, especially cheese, my face breaks out. The zinc cream both covers the problem and resolves it. I just hope that, as more people discover this stuff, it won’t become hard to find!

EDIT: I nearly stopped using this zinc cream because the odor became too bothersome. At first it didn’t bother me, but I found myself becoming more sensitive to it over time, as it smells similar to a hair permanent service. It’s also very drying, so it’s definitely more of a spot treatment than I initially realized. As strange as it sounds, I ended up switching to a natural and much better smelling diaper cream that also contains zinc, and I’ve been pleased with it.
Original review:
Since I was confused about the tint color, I’m posting a pic so that others can see. This is tinted the color of a light/medium Caucasian foundation/concealer. For reference, I usually use Maybelline Master Conceal 30 Light/Medium concealer (pictured next to this cream), and while the cream isn’t a match, I can get away with using it because it blends in. It reminds me of the tinted Clearisil I used 20+ years ago. If your skin is much lighter or darker than mine (light olive complexion), it might still work for you if you cover with a concealer product. Otherwise, it could be a nighttime use product.
It has an interesting odor. My nose is really sensitive, so the slight sulfur medicinal odor may not be as obvious to most people. The texture reminds me of a clay mask, or almost like drywall spackle. It’s pretty thick, and a little goes a long way, but it seems to blend into my skin just fine.
It does seem to be pretty drying, but I have dry skin and everything seems drying to me, so I’ll definitely be using this as a spot treatment. I’ve compensated for the drying effect by using a few drops of squalane oil (non-comedogenic and derived from olives) over the cream. I purchased this because I’ve been dealing with a persistent skin issue (either a bacterial issue or a type of fungal acne/folliculitis like malassezia). This was recommended because it treats both bacterial and fungal issues, and doesn’t have any ingredients that “feed” malassezia fungal infections, like most skincare products do (check out the “simple skin care science” website to learn more about fungal acne). The skin issue is relatively mild, but it keeps coming back despite everything else I’ve tried, so if this doesn’t do the trick, I’ll have to head straight to the dermatologist because I’ll be out of other options.
I’ll update my review again in a few weeks, once I know if this will resolve the issue. Fingers crossed!

I buy A LOT of things via Amazon. It’s not typical/ordinary for me to leave product reviews. However, I felt very compelled to leave a product review for this zinc cream. I have suffered for several years now, on and off, with perioral dermatitis. Once it was properly diagnosed, as it was inaccurately diagnosed with my first dermatologist, I went down the typical path of several months of taking antibiotics. I also was prescribed a handful of creams (many of which were very expensive) including metronidazole cream and Elidel cream ($600ish per 60 gram tube). I used these creams and took my antibiotics religiously for months. Sometimes it seemed as though my PD was starting to disappear, then I’d wake up the next day and it would be back with a vengeance. I scoured the internet researching what worked for other people suffering with the same affliction that I was. A couple people mentioned zinc cream working well for them. I did a search for “zinc cream” and came across this product. At $10 bucks a tube I figured I had nothing to loose as I’ve spend thousands of dollars on my PD. I stopped the antibiotics as it was wrecking the “good bacteria” in my gut and intestine. I started washing my face morning and evening with Apple Cider Vinegar….yes it stings like hell!! After applying the ACV to my face, I let it sit on my face for 3-4 minutes, then rinsed my face with cold water. Your face will be REALLY red at this point. I then applied the zinc cream to ALL of the red areas on my face. The cream does sting a bit when it’s first applied, however, the stinging very quickly subsides and your skin feels much better. It also “looks” better because this cream is tinted. Other reviewers have found this to be a negative. I, however, appreciate the fact that the cream is tinted as it gets old, and embarrassing, to go out in public with a red face. I typically would put another layer of the cream on just before bed. Almost immediately I saw improvement when I would wake up and look in the mirror in the morning. The cream seems to be quite drying to the skin. This drying characteristic however, seemed to be the key to make my PD disappear day by day. My face is COMPLETELY clear now. I still rinse my face daily with ACV, however, it now doesn’t sting at all because the PD is not flaring. Once all the stinging and redness disappeared I stopped applying the zinc cream. However, I have 2 tubes of this miracle cream on standby should my PD decide to rear it’s ugly head. If you’re suffering from PD, and potential other embarressing skin problems, I’d definitely recommend trying this cream. It’s been a miracle cream for me!
