I ordered this monitor with 125 test strips. I only received around 12 or so test strips and have to re-order already for another $45, money I wasn’t planning to spend this month. The monitor works as advertised, but I did not get enough test strips for my order.

When I finally got this meter configured — not easy, since the direction don’t match the meter — I found that it was way off. It would be shocking if this is actually used in health facilities anywhere in the world, as the hemoglobin readings can be off by as much as 20% and also are not consistent. It’s impossible to use it even to track one person’s hemoglobin, which is what I hoped to use it for. Unfortunately, I found this out too late to return it for a refund. Note to self: Test devices thoroughly within the return window.

I ordered this item for a patient who has low hgb. This is a convenient way to monitor blood hgb at home. It is as easy as using a glucose monitor with strips. The post office here put a slip in my box that said the package was not able to be put into the parcel locker and yet reported it to Amazon as delivered to the parcel locker. I took the slip to the post office and they had the package. Make sure to check with your post office is you have any issues. Customer Service for this item is FANTASTIC. Prompt response. I use the product to monitor hemoglobin levels following life threatening internal bleeding. The fine print made the instruction manual very hard for me to read. The hemoglobin meter worked fine once I figured out how to use it. Delivery time was long, about 2 weeks. I am satisfied with this product now that I know how to use it.

I have high HGB levels. I give blood on a therapeutic basis, e.g. if my HGB is less that 17.5, no blood draw, This machine allows me to accurately test, at home, saving a trip to the blood center if NGB is less that 17.5. Each wasted trip is $4 in gas lost.
Hints:
(1) Make sure you are depositing a full drop of blood on the test “mat. It will be a round drop when deposited, the quickly spread ,turning the mat a deep red color. If you have any area of the mat white, you will get an error or a low reading .
(2) The needle lance is weak. Any of my wife’s lance’s more forcefully launch the needle, producing a more useful drop of blood.

As soon as we received our monitor, we took my husbands hemoglobin reading.
It was 5.5
Normal is 13.5 to 17.5
We went right to the Emergency Room.
I showed them the monitor results.
They took him right in, no questions asked.
After the nurse drew blood from his arm, thier tests came back 5.5 also.
They gave him 2 units of blood and saved his life that same night.
It is worth high price.

Got this meter today. After following step by step instructions on the setup of the meter I tested myself 3 times – twice from one finger, one time from another. Got 13.8 g/dL each time. Tested my son- got 15.7 g/dL for him. These measurements sound about right for both of us. Even if they are not exact same as would be with the venous blood, at least they are not all over the place, and in a ballpark. Will compare it with Hb measurement done by a certified lab. In a mean time, I am a fan and when/if my special someone feels “tired” and it reads low – I will treat it as an emergency. Easy enough to use. Needle is tiny, there is barely any discomfort from the stick.

I live this little machine. I am hospitalized about 5-6 times because my hemoglobin is shown to 4.3 and normal is 13. When I start to feel like it might be dropping i can check it at home instead always going to the dr.
