I’m mom to a 17 year old with a severe tree nut allergy. Diagnosed at 3, we’ve spent most of the past 14 years carrying epi pens with us everywhere we go. Most of the time, its easy to do so and not stress. But a few years ago my son started playing a lot of travel sports, where we’d spend whole day outside in crazy hot temperatures and its not easy keeping those vital (and expensive!) epinephrine injectors temperature stable. I was so excited to try this out. Unfortunately, we learned quickly it doesn’t fit the generic or off brand pen injectors. We did have an expired Epi-Pen (branded) injector and that fit, but it didn’t fit our current pens. This is such a bummer as they’re just not that different in size and a small modification would fit more pens and be more versatile. Anyway, I did test the carrier with the expired epi-pen, taking it with me out in the heat. It didn’t cool it, of course, but it kept it stable despite a day in the sun and it felt perfectly normal when I took it out.

If you have to use an Epipen on yourself or your child to stop emergency anaphylaxis, you don’t want to hope the drug is okay if you accidentally left it in your car on a hot or cold day. This Vivi Epi shields your epinephrine pen from being exposed to extreme temperatures for up to 12 hours. So if your medication is placed inside the shield, but accidentally left in a cold or hot car or room for too long, the internal temperature of the epinephrine pen will not go up or down.
I tested this on two old epipens (expired by 1 year, for testing purposes). First, i placed each epipen in the Vivi shield case one at a time just to test the temperature. Both received a green light, so each was at room temperature and safe to use (had they not been expired). Then I put one epipen back in the Vivii shield and left one in its original case. I placed both epipens inside a hot car parked in the sun for 30 minutes. Brought both epipens back inside to test. The epipen that was inside the Vivi shield displayed a green light, meaning it was at room temperature and safe to use. This epipen did not feel hot to the touch, even though the Vivi shield was hot. Next, I placed the Epipen that was not in the shield inside the Vivi case. I pressed the button on the bottom and the light turned red, meaning the temperature of the Epipen was too hot to use since the medication inside may be compromised or ineffective.
So in conclusion, the Vivi shield protected the Epipen medication from being exposed to extreme temperature and degradation even when left inside a hot car.
That’s impressive, because even though my daughter tells me she always has her epipen on her person, there have been times when she has left it in the car by accident or it has been sitting in the downstairs freezing cold bathroom all weekend. As long as her epipen is kept inside the Vivi shield case, it will always be safe and ready to work in an emergency.
Worthwhile product with good directions and product support information enclosed. If it actually lasts for years and years as described, then it is also worth the price.

My nephew has to carry an epi pen (epinephrine) all the time. They become exorbitantly expensive and are worth protecting. I was very pleased to see this Vivi Epi come on the market. It’s a truly innovative piece of equipment. The interior is obviously a high-grade, double-walled stainless while the outside is a simple plastic. The only vulnerable part would be the hinge on the container.
Operation is very easy. There’s a very responsive button on the bottom of the Vivi Epi that can be tapped. Instantly I’m able to see if the temperature is good or not. A green light lets me know that the temperature is below 86° F (30° C) and safe to use. The red will come on if the pen is unsafe to use. The light doesn’t remain on. There are some comprehensive instructions on a single sheet of paper. Expensive? Yes, however, the price of a single epi pen is considerably more expensive.

I have 2 different brands of Epi Pens, so only one can store in this storage container. The other one stick out. See video. So, make sure the Epi Pens are the ones listed in the product description.
The device has temperature monitoring feature which is good. Pressing the bottom grey button will light up the indicator (per manual):
Green – Indicates proper operation and temperature below limit of 86F (30c). Safe to use the device.
Red – VIVI Epi should returned to room temperature of less than 78.8F. See photo for more details.
No Light (when at room temperature) – Battery is depleted, stop using the device and dispose properly.
For current price of $175.00, this becomes a very expensive device when battery is depleted.

This is pretty bulky and quite expensive. The shield on my lid was broken when it arrived so I gave it 3 stars. It does keep the Epi pen secure and the light feature to be sure the temp is ok is nice if you need this. But too pricey for me.

We bought multiples and all of them kept loosing the lid. Now one even has lot the plastic in the lid. The idea is great but in its current form the product is useless.

My father has been a long-term user of the VIVI Cap, so I was very excited to learn that the company has introduced a similar product for the EpiPen. Since my niece uses it, I purchased this new product as a gift for her. She appreciates its portability and ease of carrying it in her bag all day. She’s particularly pleased that it requires no effort on her part to maintain its functionality. While we wish she would never have to use her EpiPen, we find comfort knowing that the VIVI Epi will ensure it remains potent if ever needed. While the price may seem a bit steep, it is justifiable considering that it comes with a 2-year warranty upon registration. For example, my father only had to replace his VIVI Cap with a newer model after four years of daily usage. Given that this product operates in a similar manner, I believe it’s very much worth the investment and is an essential item to have.
