Para utilizar o FRIO INDIVIDUAL, comece imergindo o estojo em água limpa por 10 a 15 minutos. Após esse período, retire-o da água e deixe escorrer o excesso. The Frio wallet performs exactly the way it says it does. But make sure you understand what it says it will do. The Frio cooling case will maintain your insulin at 77-79 degrees F. So basically a warm fall day. That is not refrigeration temperatures. Be sure you are aware of the temp your insulin should be kept at before purchasing. Bottle insulin should typically be stored between 36-46F where insulin pens can be stored between 56-80F.
This wallet is not appropriate for bottle insulin!
I was able to store 2 pens of insulin (Tresiba) in this wallet for a recent out of state trip. It kept the insulin temp stable and that’s all I needed. To use, you soak for a few minutes in cold water and then allow to “dry” for a couple of minutes. Pat with paper towel and insert in case. [Note here: the red color bleeds. Do not do like I did and use a white kitchen towel. Use something disposable. Trust me on this. ] The cooling case is filled with gel beads that soak up the water. So the case does not – and should not – be rigid. It’s very squishy. DO NOT SQUISH. Resist the urge to squish. Pat dry – insert in case – go squeeze your significant other/favorite pet/pillow of choice instead. The inner stays moist and squishy.
The outer case did a great job keeping the moisture from everything else. I actually put my Frio in a plastic pencil box that held my blood sugar testing equipment and needles. Worked great slinging around in my backpack on vacation. You are warned not to put the case inside something waterproof or airtight. It uses evaporative technology to work so needs some sort of air access.
When drying out, expect it to take a looooong time. The instructions warn you that the beads could take 2-4 WEEKS to dry out and they are not jiving. You can speed (ha!) the drying by setting the Frio near a vent or on a windowsill.
So to recap: TL/DR: Not for bottle insulin. Good for keeping pen temp stable. Don’t squish. Red bleeds.
Updated 1/29/21: I recently used the Frio insulated wallet for a trip. What I discovered is that the wallet apparently did not dry completely the last time I used it despite being left out for over 2 weeks. What this means is that I ended up with mildew on the case and the wallet. When I attempted to clean it, this sucker was STILL bleeding red colorant. I was able to use it and it still worked, but I really do NOT recommend the red color and expect the wallet to take at least a month if not more to dry out completely before you store it away.

I really wanted this to work. I take bone medicine teriparitide, and they say it needs to be refrigerated at all times, about 40 degrees, and I travel a lot. I used a needle cooking thermometer to test it. With an indoor temp of 72, it only dropped to 68 degrees. Outdoors, it went from 81 to 72 degrees, a nice drop but nowhere near refrigeration temp. I don’t want to spoil my medicine so am not taking the chance.

I got this to use when I have to travel to make sure my injectable medicine pen stays cool. It’s small and light enough for purse or carry-on so I’m sure to have this essential medicine with me at all times. Just needs to be “recharged” with cool water every other day of so. Works well for me.

I just started backpacking and when I decided I wanted to go I immediately went head first into YouTube and hyping myself up to go on my first trip. When I really started thinking about all the extra supplies I would need for my trip I thought about how my insulin would not be able to be refrigerated and it could be hot. I was very disappointed and thought it might not be a good idea for me to go more than an overnight trip but then found this!! I have been a diabetic for 26 years, was diagnosed at 7 and I’m 33 now, and I have never heard of these!!! Thank you so much to whoever came up with this amazing product! I do not want my diabetes to hold me back in life and this made extended backpacking trip’s possible for me! I also now keep a pen and a vial in my purse. I have a omnipod which uses a vial to fill but like to keep a pen with me just in case too when I go out. Works perfect!

Kept its temperature for over 24 hours. The beads will expand once activated, and thus making the inner sleeve tight. Had to wiggle my ozempic pen to get it out.

Worked good. At first I was skeptical because it didn’t seem like it was going to keep the pens cool. Went to the Bahamas and was on the beach a full day in what felt like 100 degree weather. My daughters pen stayed cool the entire time. I kept checking because I was nervous. Used it 2 days in a row and worked great both days. It did not feel supper cold to touch but each time I removed her pen it was cool. Lasted longer than the freezer cooler bag I bought.

Utilizziamo questa piccola borsa termica per la penna ad insulina di nostra figlia da anni e ci troviamo molto bene. Mantiene in fresco il medicinale e protegge anche dagli urti. Infatti la sacca interna va immersa per alcuni minuti in acqua fredda, così si gonfiano i cristalli che si trovano all’interno, cosa che la rende sia refrigerante che morbida e quindi protettiva. Periodicamente bisogna ripetere il procedimento, altrimenti i cristalli si seccano e perdono di efficacia. La consigliamo vivamente a chi debba utilizzare l’insulina fuori casa o comunque in luoghi particolarmente caldi. Ideale per esempio al mare o in montagna d’estate. Consegna puntuale.

I was skeptical this was going to work. This was a single pen test run because I’m going on a bigger trip in January and I have to pack light. It has been 48 hours and this pack is still cool. I made sure to pat it dry after letting the water absorb and went through TSA with no flags. I did not tell them this was in my carry-on. I got the bigger one for my longer trip in January and it’s much easier to use than my metal medical cooler.

I purchased this to carry an automatic medication syringe that had to be kept cool while traveling. It really works well as long as you follow the instructions. I gave it a 4 because it will only hold one pen, although it looks as though it would hold two. The company does make a larger one that will hold several syringes. It easily lasted 48 hours and was not messy at all,
