This is not a pill cutter, it is a pill crusher. There was no suitable cup to hold a round pill, only oval and irregularly shaped pills. The pills I was seeking to split are not scored and the blade on this device does not go completely through the tablet, thus crushing the contents in the cup.

I’m chopping one of my pills because taking it all at once hurts my gut, I can handle it if I take it in 2 doses at different times of the day. I had gotten a pill chopper at the drug store but it didn’t work very well and within less than a year began to not open fully enough to position the pill on the little seat. Bought this one and it works fine, although the pill does sometimes shift around right before the chop so I get some unequal halves.

This thing is great! First of all I’ve always found one of the sizes will work. Occasionally I would have to tap them a time or two but that was it. The blade was sharp enough to handle coated pills (I wouldn’t try this btw), vitamins, and pills where they were obviously trying to force you to buy the next size down. If I pushed it real gently, I found this could also cut pills you can break with your hands. I would’ve just done them by hand but I always used too much pressure and I’d end up with shambles. However, I found if I used this just right then I’d get them to split about 85% of the time. To wrap up, this is my second unit. I was eventually forced to buy a new one after five years. I’m always on 10+ medications, I’ve always had to cut something, and I even spent a year plus cutting four of those ‘buy the next size down’ pills a day. Can’t ask for better.

Superfast delivery, and a very accurate cutter. I’ve found that with pill cutters you only get what you pay for. I’m well pleased.

Third time I’ve purchased this cutter. It’s great. Better now the manufacturer packaged it all in a small box vs.a big blister pack. The other cutters don’t work for everything. I use two different ones at home. This one is good for shapes that are narrow on one end and won’t fit well or stay in place in the usual tapered uni-shaped cutters. I don’t use it for a shape that fits the die exactly, but fits well enough to stay in place split evenly. I really like that I I can turn the die to split in the direction I need. Especially good for hard tablets with long oval ends.

Another “Get what you pay for” item.
This cutter has little plastic tray pieces that you insert. You use these plastic tray pieces to choose your pill size to use as they offer a variety of shapes and sizes in round, oblong, and trianglular. UNFORTUNATELY, they DO NOT offer one for a Square or Rectangular pill.
You choose the tray that is closest to holding your pill size, then you place your pill in the tray and cut.
It did cut my pills, but they mostly came out shattered. The ones that did not come out shattered, were cut at completely different sizes (ex: 1/3 on one side, 1/4 on the other) instead of being cut in half, even though I had the correct tray inserted. I did have a few pills come out correctly.

It cuts the pills but not always in equal parts. Item is too pricy when shipped.

I was hoping this would be a pill cutter that would not only have different shaped inserts that could adjust to pill shapes but also a sharp blade that would cut them cleanly.
Two major issues I have had are: (1) The blade does not cut the pills cleanly – often not cutting all the way through the pill that is in the plastic shaped insert and partially crushing the pill along the cut line so you lose some of the medication. (2) The plastic inserts pull up with the blade after you cut the pill so you have to pop them off of the blade to get your pill out and since the pill is often partially crushed the powder gets scattered on the counter top.
The good thing is this was incredibly cheap so I don’t feel bad just throwing it out and taking the extra time with good pill cutters to be sure the pills are oriented correctly before cutting them.

This pill cutter is useless. The pills don’t fit properly in the cheap plastic holders and the blade does not stay sharp. After only 2 uses it makes me very angry that people are allowed to sell items like this.
If I could have given this zero stars, I would have.

This cutter comes with 12 templates that hold an incredible variety of pill sizes AND shapes. It really gives me confidence that when I am cutting a pill I am getting fairly equal halves because the pill is held in place to the cut. It is a real money saver. I have used other pill cutter that work fine, but lately my prescriptions are becoming “football” shaped and harder to accurately divide. This tool was a really great help.
