Descrição do Produto: Multi Pill Cutter Pro

I had a pill cutter which was ok for round pills but not on long ones. I was happy to find that this cutter works really well and cuts up to 14 long pills at one time. They are cut cleanly, too, with a minimum of “pill dust” left over.

Don’t put your finger inside the cutter, though because there is a very sharp blade set in the top, which I didn’t realize when I grabbed it when it was open.

I’ve used this item for seven months and I love the fact you can cut multiple pills at once but the accuracy portion of the description of this product is not quite truthful. The tolerance of the pill channel is so loose, it makes it impossible to obtain an accurate cut. I’ve used this on round and oval shaped pills and it will not cut any of them in equal halves. Loading the channel up, the halves will vary between 40/60 split to 10/90 in the same cut; the channel just moves too much to work well. I noticed the channel when loaded up with pills does not line up with blade and sits off center right from the beginning and moves as the blade is cutting down the channel. I’ve thrown this one out and I’m looking for a better cutter.

Crushes the pills instead of cutting them. Makes a mess that’s very hard to clean out.

    This is The Missus reviewing.
I split the teeny pills for The Husband. The photos are from the first time I used this splitter. I eyeballed the width (pills were 1/4 in. or so), used flat-nosed tweezers to line them up (making sure each was flat and not canted, ignored the score line), tightened the width just a tad to snug it, and used the base of my hands on top to quickly snap the lid down as per the instructions. One photo shows the line up, one the result (and the tweezers), and one is a close-up of the result. I’m satisfied!

The only problem (and it needs to be addressed) is that the top is very tight and hard to open. As in “hold it against my chest and use my nails to pry it open”. Luckily, the top also doesn’t pop open so I didn’t spill any. Still, it was much more satisfying that doing them one at a time. I’m glad I bought it.

I cut round pills last night. Again, smallish, just under 1/4 inch. I found a fairly easy way to do it. Open the bumpers wide. Pour in some pills. Tilt the whole thing towards you and jiggle it until the pills are lined up against the bumper nearest you and tilt towards the turny-thing to close up gaps. Keeping it tilted towards you, remove extra pills, then close the bumpers until snug. Put it down and slam it shut. Done.
I did end up once with pills sort of stuck to the blade. Don’t touch them; just empty the cut ones from the gutter and slam it shut again.

Also, the top seemed easier to open this time. Maybe opening and closing it multiple times loosened it up.

I have to cut about 80 pills of a few different types of small oblong pills into quarters for my ailing, small dog each month now. Many of the pills in addition to being small and oblong, were curved on bottom as well making them want to tip slightly when cutting often adding to the diffulty.

I purchased a number of pill cutters, both single and the multi pill cutters similar to this one, all of which claimed they could do small oblong pills. I went through pretty much all of them in my attempt to find a way that worked half way decently. I even tried cutting by hand with a razor blade which didn’t work particularly well either. I ruined a number of expensive pills in my quest to find one that actually could do it. All of them cut extremely unevenly and often turned the pills to dust, no matter how careful I was in lining them up, with one exception. This one ACTUALLY worked most all of the time and was the ONLY one that I purchased that could actually do it.

It didn’t always cut perfectly evenly, but it was at least in the vicinity of even when both halving and quartering and especally when using the tips I’ve figured out. The others weren’t even close to even most of the time, making vastly different doses when halving the pills, then completely obliterated them to dust quite often when attempting to quarter. This cutter was by no means perfect, but cut the evenest of them all by far and turned none to complete dust like the others often did. Where all the many others I tried, regardless of their claims, failed, this one actually succeeded and at a time when I had about lost hope and was starting to think I’d never find a decent way of quartering the small difficult pills.

This pill cutter did require more pressure then the others to cut the pills,. This is the only area I found where this cutter was lacking and wasn’t the best of all those I purchased.

It was the easiest to use and required minimum dexterity, unlike the others, making this one far better for anyone that may have hand and dexterity issues. Specifically, the other multi pill cutters required you to turn a small dial many times to clamp down on the pill. Due to that I can see those with hand issues having great difficulty with the others, where as this one just had you turn a knob only slightly and then it did the rest to clamp down on the pill making it far easier for anyone with stiff fingers and the like.

If you have a pill cutting challenge like I did, I highly recommend this pill cutter over the others by far. Though it is by no means perfect, it can at least do the job I needed it to, which unfortunately I found to be a true rarity among the many cutters I tried. In addition, this pill cutter even quartered the pills fairly well too making it by far the best of those in my experience.

Now for the PILL CUTTING TIPS:

For anyone having difficulty quartering pills and especially small oblong pills like I did I have learned a few things through all my trials and errors with all the pill cutters. I tried that I hope can help someone. Some of the things should hold true for cutting any sized or shaped pill. First off is a tip that I imagine probably holds true for pills of all sizes when using the multi pill cutters and that is to cut only 3 or 4 pills at a time instead of as many as you can as that increases your success rate at least some what for all of the multi cutters

Now when it came to halving and quartering oblong pills I tried cutting all kinds of different ways and different orders such as width then lengthwise or cutting and quartering all by just doing width cuts only and so on. If you want the doses to be as even as possible and have the best chance for complete success of a quartered small oblong pill you need to cut length then width wise. I know it may sound harder to do it that way then say cutting only width wise cuts (I mean making all your cuts across the narrow way and not cutting lengthwise at all) since with width wise only cuts you can’t make even doses very easily. Thus for oblong pills cut longwise first as that’s your most difficult cut and by doing it first you have the most material to work with so you have a slightly increased margin for an error on your hardest cut while still succeeding. Now secondly for the oblong pill for the quarter cut you do the width cut.

For quartering a pill I figured out another tip that I imagine works for any size or shaped pill when it comes to making the quarter cut and most especially when using a multi pill cutter When working with a halved pill, especially if its curved it has a tendency to turn or tilt slightly when lining up and cutting for the quarter cut which at the very least makes for an uneven dosed pill if it doesn’t just cause the pill to crush up into dust completely To combat this problem I found it worked far better to turn the halved pill upright so it was sitting upright on the cut flat inside edge that you just made with your first cut. This way it was less likely to tilt and turn as it gives you a flatter more stable base for making the quarter cut and again increasing your success rate making the evenest quarter doses.

Well I hope the afore mentioned tips I learned can at least help someone else having difficulties like I did.

Purchased at the end on December, 2021. Worked like a charm, at first. I noticed early that the plastic holding the blade had split, which was probably my fault (Early on I tried splitting as many pills as the cutting area would hold, learned quickly to limit it to 11-13 pills at a time, for much better results).

Today, for whatever reason the screw turn that narrows the cutting area suddenly stopped working. Without a way to hold the pills, this cutter is super inaccurate, and therefor worthless. Meds cost too much to waste trying to get this to work.

That said, plan is to spent another $12, and see if I can get another 18 months out of the new one before looking for an alternative. We will see.

Tried many cutters, and multi pill cutters, this has been the best of the bunch. Only with it were a bit more durable. But its better than alternatives at this point.

I am a working professional trying to find a pill cutter that an save me time in my work.

Sadly this machine misses its mark.

    1. The gear mechanism to push the pills into a line is weak, and can jam if a pill get in there.
    2. It cannot cut evenly for multiple pills because you can’t “hold” the tablets in place during cutting. The lever loosens up and the tablets thus don’t align. If only there was some kind of tension in the system that force the pills to stay stationary.
    3. It is too time consuming to align multiple tablets when there is a cutting slit on each pill. It was thus faster to cut pills one at a time in that situation. The ideal case is to cut pills that don’t have a cutting line on it. But as per 2, the pills move when you try to cut and many tablets would not align.

Unfortunately I will not be using this device at my work any further.

But perhaps if the manufacturer find a way to lock the pill size adjuster in place, securing the pills better, it could have worked more effectively.

my hubby loves this cutter. Although you need to use a bit of strength to push down, the amount of Pills it cuts is great.

After spending years cutting pills in half, one at a time, I found this tool. It is fantastic. It holds the pills, then cuts a bunch of them at once. No extreme force is needed. Not every pill is exactly one-half, but it all evens out. I just cut 100 pills in less than three minutes. Don’t know how I can do better than that! Thanks, Amazon!

  10. A Witness

I had to send this pill cutter back, unfortunately. It looks the business but it cut the pills unevenly. My Yorkie has to take a quarter of a pill twice a day for her epilepsy and if the half’s are not even the changes of a fit are increasing. So, not good for quarters.
