So, I’ve tried several similar products, and this one (Windtrace Automatic Pill Dispenser) seems a fairly solid choice… But ‘easy’ (with regards to setup, loading understanding what to do to silence the alarm/dispense the pills, etc.) is a relative term — it’s sold as for ‘the elderly’, and you really need to consider their/your cognitive ability and/or comfort with the technology.
The good side is that the compartments are fairly good sized (best for small prescription pills, tho — lots of large supplements will quickly use up all of the space; I say this from direct experience, but I’m also taking quite a lot of supplements), and it has a lot of functionality, including alarms (complete with flashing lights, in case the patient is hard of hearing) a good sized LCD display, and quite a few ways to configure using the 28 divisions. (It comes complete with paper rings to use to make the organization more visible, specifically the basic 28 days (dispense once a day), twice a day for 14 days, three times a day for 9 days, 4 times a day for 7, five times a day for 5 days, or 6 times a day for 4.)
The biggest issue I’ve seen with it is that it’s a bit complex to setup and understand — not surprising; the complexity / flexibility of what you can do with it means you need to have a good understanding of exactly *what* you are doing with it. Overall, if you are comfortable with most current technologies, it won’t give you much of a problem, but if you (or the patient, if it’s for someone you care for) isn’t, well, it’s still an excellent device, but I’d strongly suggest having a trusted person do the setup / configuration, and reload it as needed. (Complexity wise, I’d put it on par with setting up most smart watches that I’ve tried; lots of options and you need to know what you want to do.)
Of minor concern is also that you pick it up and basically flip it to dispense your pills from the now uncovered slot — this could be an issue for people with any kind of tremor or issue lifting objects with coordination.
I wouldn’t recommend it for travel; it’s a bit big for that. But for keeping on a dresser or nightside table, it should be fine.
As a tool supporting in-home nursing, or something similar (it would be awesome in a retirement home or village), it could be an excellent choice, and it’s fine for regular patient use.. as long as they are up to understanding it well enough to configure and load it.

I didn’t like the tags, using numbers rather than days. The tray wasn’t lockable. The pills would jam or get caught under the lip. The biggest issue was it was it quit working after 3 days, 2 times per day. I changed batteries, and it not work. We bought this one so we could have another dispenser ready for the next 2 weeks. We had a Medilert we bought almost a year ago. That’s no longer available. The only issue was original batteries went bad within a couple weeks. After that they have lasted 3-4 months. It’s never skipped a dose or had any issues. It’s been a good unit for us, even though it’s rating was worse than this one. Some people may have no problem with this unit. This something that someone’s health may depend on. This is something that must work!

I got this for my mom while she was living on her own. I noticed she would forget if she took her medication on time or even at all. Now that she lives with me, it helps me to make sure she is taking her medications as directed. It’s easy to assemble, fill, and sync to my cell phone and track all her medications. The only downsides are how many notifications I get on my phone and that I can only pair one smart pill box to my phone. But for the assurance that my mom is taking her meds as prescribed, it’s a small price easily paid.

My mom kept sneeking into her pain medical and I was afraid she would take too many…I thought a locking pill dispenser would be great….not. the only thing on it that locks it the battery compartment…oh and it says has a one month capacity….it does not unless you are only taking your pills 1x a day..2xa day=2 weeks and less depending on how many times a day you take them….

If you need to keep medications on time and don’t forget this is for you it’s easy to use, you place your pills in the appropriate spots , set your timer and then at the time the top moves to open the appropriate medicine spot, it alarms and flashes lights, has been a game changer for me

Bought this for my mother. It’s very challenging for an elderly person to set the clock and alarms. Have had lots of issues with the tray not fully turning into the next slot so sometimes more medications that you want will dump out, or will not quite be accessible and you have to open the whole unit.

This product was too involved and complicated as well as confusing for my 87 year old Aunt to begin to figure out. She wasn’t able to use and missed the return window while trying in vain to operate. Cannot endorse.
