Pros:
– slightly less expensive than Salon Pas, slightly bigger (maybe half an inch per side)
– much less expensive than prescription pads
– good relief for me over time- don’t expect to slap the patch on and have your pain disappear; The patch takes awhile to become effective.
Cons:
– these patches do not stay effective as long as prescription patches or Salon Pas. I’d say max effect lasts approx 4-6 hours and then diminishes
– flimsy construction. They are very thin and the adhesive is not as sticky as either the Salon Pas or prescription patches. Not for use when active unless you enjoy having to smooth it over to make it stick again every few minutes.
– seems like effectiveness varies from person to person. Some get relief from the Lidocaine patch, some do not. I think some of those who claim no relief are actually not realizing they take awhile to become effective, but that’s conjecture on my part.
– one can make one’s back problem worse by numbing it and then sleeping in an awkward position or doing heavy work with a patch in place.
Bottom line: for this reviewer, the Salon Pas lidocaine patch offers better value because it stays on better and lasts somewhat longer.

I suffer from severe chronic pain due to neurological incurable disease. The pain is burning , stabbing, sometimes pounding , sometimes dull and deep. I get hospitalized once in a while and get Lidocaine via IV(for 6 hours) and its super effective since the dosage is 15 times larger than the patches. I decided to try the Lidocaine 4% patches . Suprisingly even though they are only 4% they are very effective. My pain is concentrated on nerve roots in the spine from C to S. Low and upper back pain . Sciatica pain , chest arm neck and shoulder pain . These patches help reduce up to 50% of the chronic pain , and this is quite alot! Dont expect them to completely elimate the pain , but to reduce it . Sometimes they are more effective than the morphine injections since the patches last up to 12 hours. Summary:
Pros: reduce up to 50% of my pain

safe for use – Lidocaine via IV might cause heart problems

I don’t get all the negative reviews about this pain patch – I have back pain and have to sit 8+ hours at a desk job. This patch keeps me from taking ibuprofen/Tylenol all day long destroying my stomach with an ulcer. The patches do STICK !! If you put them on right – you need a mirror to place it correctly – don’t guess! They are super sticky and will stick together if you’re not careful screwing the whole patch up. It numbs the pain and keeps me virtually pain free for about 8 hours. You can tell when it starts to wear off – just rip it off and put on a new one !! Super easy fix. Thank you Aspercreme !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are a lot in the package and they work well, they are not painful to use, and are comfortable wearing barefoot or with shoes on.
The Real Deal –
They work just like other lidocaine patches but are twice the price. They work and are a quality brand but price is a bit higher than others.
