I’m so thankful for this stuff! I know I’ve used it in the past and it worked. My son is autistic (he’s almost 4) and was diagnosed with encopresis due to withholding and constipation. He formed so much anxiety around bowel movements because it hurt…. So, after a lot of research and talking with his pediatrician, we decided to give these a try along with magnesium citrate (we use Calm powder, unflavored). Miralax wasn’t helping since it made him leak more and he got crampy.
Within hours of taking just one square, he was finally going (it was day 10). We then attempted a clean out and used a larger dose, and over 5 days he got the impacted stool out. No enemas needed.
The biggest thing for him was realizing it didn’t have to hurt to push. He said this helps him and makes it “less scary.” 🙌🏼 He’s extremely picky with food so I was really nervous he wouldn’t eat these, but he loves it!! No cramping or belly aches. The biggest thing for us was figuring out timing. The box says it could take 6-12 hours (I think), but for him it only takes 2-3 hours.
TIP: if you’ve been given the OK by a pediatrician but can’t get your kiddo to eat it…. Try melting it and giving it via syringe. Or, try shaving it into “sprinkles” on top of ice cream or yogurt. It works!
So happy we found this. I took him off Exlax after weaning him down, and he’s going daily without panicking. No rebound constipation at all!

It was completely melted by the time I got it. Kinda made it hard to know how much I should take. Gave me terrible cramps the first few times almost threw them out. Then one evening I gave it one last try and it worked, still had cramps but at least it produced results. I’m not sure getting this online is a good idea. Maybe better to get it in store. Cause I’ve never experienced cramps with this before. It had to be because of the product melting all together and dosage being off.

I, like many other people my age and quite possibly older, have heard stories for years of people baking Exlax into different chocolatey baked goods as a trick on other people. A week ago I was looking for something that contained Senna and was very surprised to find out exlax uses such a natural product. On a whim, I ordered this and the first day took two doses and just waited. The chocolate tastes fantastic! My only complaint is the bars are so tiny lol I can totally see this being used with geriatric patients because it would be so much easier to get them to enjoy two little tiny chocolate bars then swallow a pill. For that case (I’m not sure you can) I don’t know a child around who would not take it! Side note you should probably keep these far out of the reach of children. The next day it was unbelievable how well they worked I felt like I lost 10 lb LOL if you’re looking for a Senna laxative this is such a pleasurable way to take it I don’t know why someone would take a pill. And it’s extremely inexpensive. Now I know why the name has been so popular.

I use 2 when needed. Taking more at one time can lead to bad pains in the stomach. Use wisely.
